We had the good fortune of connecting with April Curci, CCIM and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi April, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
There is without a doubt one key choice I have made and continue to make every day that has led to my success: integrity. I have built my business around the overarching goal of being honest and truthful. When I started my business, I wanted to my presence to positively impact the industry. When I speak to colleagues, clients, and even opposing parties, they know that I am as good as my word.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My background in commercial real estate, property management, and development. Day-to day I work on project such as site selection, investment comparison, lease negotiation, seeking the highest return on investment, or assisting with tenant improvements, space planning, and design. I like to bring my enthusiasm, strong work ethic, and loyalty to work every day. I’ve been immersed in the Lowcountry’s commercial real estate market since 2013 and specialize in the logistics and transportation of products coming through the Panama Canal and their dispersal across the Unites States. I am in the process of becoming a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).
I am most proud of being recently awarded as Charleston Best Female Commercial Agent of 2021. It as a true honor to receive this accolade when you consider all of the wonderful agents in the running. In a competition sponsored by Atlantic Coast Mortgage and inspired by the Facebook Group, Charleston Women in Real Estate Tribe, the award was presented at the inaugural Charleston Women in Real Estate Summit held on December 6th at Charlestown Landing.
The award presented to me seeks to recognize women in commercial real estate who are successful and rapidly advancing in a field long dominated by their male colleagues.
My goal is for every agent and client in Charleston to know that I am only as good as my word. I put a high value on honesty and speaking the truth.

As with any industry, it is not always easy to hop right in and get going. It took a lot of effort to enter an already saturated market but I was able to demonstrate my ability to serve my clients and the community in a meaningful, impactful way. Even though Charleston is growing rapidly by the day, it holds true to a small-town community atmosphere. The commercial real estate scene here in Charleston has prominent, established names who have serving the community for years. Charlestoninans value relationships, honesty, and genuine connections. It has been a delight to work with some of the many wonderful agents in Charleston and build my own authentic connections, with clients and with agents!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
No trip to Charleston would be complete without a day in the historic downtown district. I would recommend a make-your-own perfume class with Tijon, located on King St. Then I would head to Market St and stop for a sweet treat at Byrd’s Famous Cookies. For dinner, I love High Cotton or Magnolias for some delicious Southern Cuisine.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think with any job you must find a good fit between company and agent. I am so grateful to be with a firm that values community, family, happiness, and the ideal client experience. It is important to me to complete work that you can proudly put your name on as well. I believe in doing all things with the utmost honesty and integrity all while creating the ultimate client satisfaction. Under the guidance of my Broker-in-Charge, Steve Wray, I am able to achieve these goals and more. Steve puts his agents first and will do anything he can to ensure their success.
